What others are saying about this campground
This campground is located in a wooded area near the Des Moines River, ten minutes away from fuel and food services. It offers a variety of activities such as hiking trails, yellow bluffs, Indian burial mound, fishing pond, recreation area, horse shoe pits, boat access to the Des Moines River, large tent camping area, ball fields, and shelters for rental. There are two RV sites with shower houses, and about 10 tentsites on a large rectangular area in the back surrounded by trees. The campground is usually full on the weekends, so it is best to arrive on Thursday morning to get a spot. The sites are spacious and shaded, with level gravel electric sites near a showerhouse with fresh water station and dump. There is a friendly campground host who comes to each site and visits, and the restrooms are cleaned daily. It is a great spot for a one night stop, or for a longer stay to take advantage of all the activities the park has to offer.

From The Campground
Yellow Banks Park is a 552-acre park located in Polk, IA. The park features 140-foot tall bluffs that rise above the Des Moines River, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The bluffs are formed from loess soil deposited by the wind during the time of the glaciers. Hiking trails lead to scenic overlooks, an oak savanna, a Native American burial mound, and a unique backpacking camping area. This is a prime area for viewing migrating raptors in spring and fall. The park offers ball diamonds, camping, fishing, geocaching, hiking, picnicking, playground, and shelters.
