Cherry Glen is a large and clean campground situated in a highly-wooded area, making the area pretty peaceful and quiet. The volunteers here are friendly and helpful. They will meet you and register you before you get out of your vehicle, help you fill up fresh water, and lead you to your site. The campground has beautiful trees and large sites with grass and some gravel. Bathrooms and bathhouses are spread out and conveniently located. Most sites have some room between them, considerable grass, but limited sunshine due to the shade provided by the trees. The sites all have some drop-off in varying directions, so you may need to position your rig carefully to level it properly with the terrain. The campground is appropriately configured to accommodate differently-abled individuals, with some concrete sites for the handicapped. If you plan on visiting Cherry Glen, you should make sure to pay attention to the size of the site as they are all different in size. For instance, we had an electric-only site (#39), which means you will need to rely on the blackout shades inside your RV if you dont want to get up at the crack of dawn. The town of Ankeny is just a few miles away and has the basics you need, such as stores, fuel, and restaurants. The campground has a playground and hosts a lot of little children, especially on Friday and Saturday nights, playing kickball, scarfing down smores, or just unplugged, enjoying each others company. It was an idyllic scene.
