There are plenty of trees and the sites are well spaced. The sites are all full hookups and the electric posts are level. The campground is situated on a hillside overlooking the lake with a beach and boat ramp nearby. Sugar Bottom Campground is a beautiful, well-maintained park located on the shore and hills above Coralville Lake. It is popular for camping, hiking, biking, boating, swimming, fishing and picnicking. The campground features 65 sites with electric (30 amp) hookups, and some with full hookups. The roads are asphalt and the full hookup pads are concrete, and the sites are well-spaced with plenty of trees for shade and satellite reception. The entrance road is very steep (10-12% grade) and windy, but can be navigated with larger vehicles. There is a small beach nearby for swimming, and a boat launch for water sports. There are two side-by-side shower stalls with hot water, and a free loaner program for life jackets. The campground is immaculate and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rate for full hookups is a very reasonable $13 per night, and discounts are available with a Golden Pass.
