This campground is a great place to stop for a night or two while passing through the area. It is located just off the highway and has full hookups, wide gravel sites, and a small lake in the center of the park. The park is relatively new and the facilities are in great shape. There is a small office but it was closed when we were there. The park is close to Hutchinson and all the attractions it has to offer. Sand Hills State Park is a convenient campground located just off the highway, perfect for a night or two while passing through the area. The park is relatively new, with wide gravel sites, full hookups, and a small lake in the center. The sites are laid out in a circle around the lake, with some pull-throughs on the outside of the loop and back-ins and pull-throughs on the inside. The sites have concrete pads, fire pits, picnic tables, grills, and lantern hooks. The park also has four clean and easily accessible bathroom/shower combinations. There are also horse corrals and pens at some of the RV sites. The park is close to Hutchinson and all the attractions it has to offer, and there are several miles of trails for hikers, ATVs, and horses in the sand hills adjacent to the park. OTA TV is good, and Verizon coverage is 3/5. Kansas also tacks on an additional $5 per day vehicle fee.

Sand Hills State Park is a 1,123 acre natural area located north of Hutchinson, KS. The park features sand dunes, grasslands, wetlands, and woodlands. Visitors can enjoy hiking, horseback riding, hunting, bird watching, wildflower walks, jogging, and relaxation in the country. The park has eight trails, which are broken down into interpretive, hiking, and horseback riding trails. There are 14 miles of trails which weave in between 10 to 40-feet high sand dunes, through grasslands and trees, and around ponds. Modern facilities are limited to two vault toilets. Camping is available year-round and reservations can be made online or through the Cheney State Park Office.
