Water Rec Park is a great budget-friendly campground located a couple of miles from Highway 50 in Kansas. The grounds are spacious, level, and well-kept, with several ramadas, picnic tables, playgrounds, and a group shelter. There are 8 sites with 30A/20A electricity and a shared spigot with two hose bibs. The bathrooms are clean and have flush toilets and a sink, although the ladies shower is not functional. The park is quiet and peaceful, with plenty of open sites to choose from and extra parking spots. The wind can be strong at times, so deploying the awning is not recommended. There are three fishing ponds, although the name Water Rec Park is a bit deceiving. The park is not very populated, so visitors can usually have a picnic shed roof to themselves. Unfortunately, there are lots of flies, which may be related to feeder lots throughout the area. For $5/night, this is a great place to stay for a night or two, although visitors should be prepared for the mosquitos and windy conditions.
