Arkalon is a hidden gem of a campground located off the beaten path in Liberal, KS. It is a 16-site, city-run park and campground that is surprisingly secluded and peaceful despite being near a road and behind the train tracks. The park is well-maintained with a grassy area, play structure, and plenty of shady spots. It is also situated near the river, offering a little extra protection from the elements. There is a sand volleyball court and a large covered picnic area, as well as a fishing pond about a quarter mile away. The rate per night is $15 for 30 amp electric and water, plus $5 for a second AC. There is no full hookup sites available, but there is a convenient dump station. The access roads are dirt, but are well-maintained and the camp host is extremely helpful and pleasant. Cell service is spotty, so it is a great place to get away from any city or town.
