Verizon signal reaches weakly, but is OK with a booster. There is an ice cream truck that makes the rounds in the campground, and many family friendly activities offered throughout the year, including trick or treating in October. Game wardens patrol the campground regularly, so make sure you have the correct permits. The lake is closed to swimming, boating, and fishing due to an algae bloom, but camping is still allowed. Meade State Park is a 803-acre park located in the high plains of southwest Kansas, just west of the Red Hills. The park offers 80 acres of water and 440 surrounding acres of campsites and wildlife area. Visitors can enjoy fishing, birding, biking, hiking, and hunting. The park has a nature trail for nature lovers who like to identify various different trees, grasses, flowers, and birds. The Meade Fish Hatchery is located west of Meade Lake and offers tours by appointment. The park has various camping options available, including primitive camping and water/electric sites. Reservations for utility sites are recommended.
