What others are saying about this campground
This campground is a great spot for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. It is located right on the lake, with easy access to sandy beaches and great swimming areas. The facilities are dated, but mostly clean, and the bathrooms are kept very clean. The campground offers both 50 and 30 amp sites, with the 50 amp sites on the inner loop and the lake side sites being 30 amp. The lake is beautiful and the trees are full of fall foliage, making it a great spot to relax and take in the scenery. The campground is also very affordable and can get rowdy during holidays. The biggest downside is that you have to share a water source with the campsites next to you, but most sites are large and shady. The campground is self-service and is about 5 miles east of town just north of 1st street.

From The Campground
Harvey County East Park offers 1,300 sprawling acres of family fun for visitors just a few miles east of the heart of Newton. A 314-acre lake blends its tree-lined shady shores with an abundance of space for fishing, swimming, boating and personal watercraft. Campgrounds surround all around the water, in close proximity to playgrounds, a softball diamond and volleyball courts. Three restrooms - two of which are bathhouses - are available for patrons. Volunteer Hall at East Park offers a closed shelter with heating and air conditioning. It can seat about 100 people, with easy access to a boat ramp and swimming beach. The interior includes a stove, refrigerator, sink and restrooms. The park also has open shelters to enjoy. East Park offers a mix of trails perfect for walking, running and horseback riding. East Park includes the Osage Nature Trail, which is also home to the Indigent Persons Memorial. The East Park trails have been mapped at getoutdoorskansas.org. East Park also has a dedicated Pet Swim Park. The swim park provides a fenced-in beach play area for pets with direct access to the water. Pets do not need to be restrained while inside the swim park, but are required to be leashed in all other areas of the park. Seasonally, limited hunting is available by reservation on specified areas of East Park. During this time, portions of the trail routes that overlap with the hunting grounds are closed. Horse trail parking is temporarily relocated off of Northeast 24th Street during hunting season. The Harvey County Radio Control Park is also located at East Park. Boating, camping and horseback riding are subject to fees. Fishing requires a state-issued fishing license.
