The sites along the water are spacious, most offer shade and trees for hammocking, and water access is awesome! There is a bear can with mussels all over it. At night, you can enjoy the beautiful starry skies and have an INCREDIBLE view of the stars. The campground hosts are friendly and helpful. Cell service is strong for Verizon and AT&T. The sites are not all even, some have some deep ruts in them even though they are covered with asphalt the under base is not steady, but it is a quite, clean camp ground and would come back if we travels the same route. This campground is perfect for a peaceful getaway. It is located on Melvern Reservoir, about 20 miles east of Emporia. The sites along the water are spacious, most offer shade and trees for hammocking, and water access is awesome. There are many lakeside campsites with hookups and all are very shaded. The campsites are spacious and grassy, with paved pads and adequate parking areas. The lake is clean and large enough for all water activities. There is a lot of shade and easy access to the water. They have recently eliminated the vault toilets and made them into flush toilet, and shower, which was a huge improvement to the area. The campground hosts are great and the cell service is strong for Verizon and AT&T. This is just a beautiful quiet campground with lots of space between the individual campsites. Enjoy the starry skies, listen to owls, and see bats and fireflies while you relax in this peaceful getaway.
