The Mushroom Campground is a unique and peaceful camping experience. Located in Kansas, the campground features a series of primitive campsites with mushroom-like shelters over each sites picnic tables. Each covered area sits on a concrete pad and has two picnic tables, as well as a metal fire ring. There is plenty of grass around the sites for tents, and a vault toilet is conveniently located near two of the sites. Unfortunately, there is no water available in the camping area. The sites are flat and open, with some offering views of the Webster Reservoir. People are friendly but not intrusive, and fishing can be ok. It can be quite hot in high summer, but usually a nice breeze passes through. It is also close to the Nicodemus National Historic Site. The only downside is the occasional vehicle passing by late at night.
From The Campground
Webster State Park is an 880-acre prairie setting of rolling hills and spacious skies located in Rooks County, Kansas. The park offers visitors the opportunity to see deer, turkeys, quail, pheasants, and many wildflowers. The 3,700 acres of open water in Webster Reservoir offer great fishing opportunities. The area's mixed grass prairie, river, lake, marshes, and riparian trees and shrubs teem with wildlife. Located in the central flyway, the lake is a stopping place for many species of waterfowl and shorebirds and offers excellent opportunities for hunting, wildlife watching, and photography. The park features eight campgrounds with a total of 93 campsites, two modern rental cabins, and the Webster Wildlife Area, which encompasses 8,018 acres mostly surrounding the Solomon River west of the reservoir.
