GenieSummary

The Winfield Fairgrounds is a great campground for groups or families looking for a place to stay. It has a courtesy box at the entrance for camping fees, and electrical hookups on the paved parking lot and in the tree grove beside the main building. Verizon cell service is good, and there is a freight train track nearby that blows its horn intermittently. The area is open and wooded, and slopes gently from the fairgrounds to the river. There are locals that camp out here who are friendly and sometimes start playing music. Unfortunately, the campground had some major flooding so there are limited spaces, but you can still park in a dry area for a $5 fee. There is also a dump station on the other side of the fairground, near the animal show barns. The campground is close to town, restaurants, and businesses, and is busy during August for the fair and in September for the Bluegrass Festival.

From The Campground

The Winfield Fairgrounds offers 44 acres of primitive camping and limited electrical services. A variety of open-sided and enclosed buildings are available for rent. The facilities may be used by any individual, family, not-for-profit or profit organization that agrees to abide by the policies, rules, and regulations. The campground provides accessible campsites and year-round dump station. Discounts are available for nonprofit, not-for-profit, or charitable organizations with proof of status on file with the City of Winfield.
