Tailwater Campground is a hidden gem, tucked away in Buckhorn Kentucky. It is a great spot for those looking for a peaceful and secluded camping experience. The campground is well maintained, with trash cans available all over and picked up every morning. There are plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained, including a volleyball court, fishing, and a big playground for kids. The sites are decent sized, spaced somewhat close but fairly level. Each site has a concrete patio space, grill, picnic table, and latern hook. There is no full hook-ups, but there is a dump station and the bath house is clean and accessible. The river runs along the side of the campground, located below an Army Corps of Engineers dam. The campground is quite out of the way, with curvy roads to get to and the closest shopping being 40 minutes away. There is a small general store a couple miles out and several others a bit further. The sites do not appear to be maintained by the camp host, as our fire pit had trash in it upon our arrival. There is a small laundry room with reasonable prices. Cell service (AT&T) is available, as well as free wi-fi at the pavilion. The campground is great for those looking for a peaceful and secluded camping experience.
