GenieSummary

Audubon State Park is a great destination for those looking for a last minute getaway or a short stay. Located near Henderson, KY off the Pennyrile Parkway and a stone throw away from Evansville, IN, the park offers camping, cabins, lake, golf course, and a museum. The campground is crammed next to a busy highway at the parks entrance, but has a lot to offer with many day use activity areas and a first class museum on Audubon. The sites are paved and there is a lot of nice grass and big shade trees, making it a peaceful place to stay. There are many walking trails in the park, including one for dogs, and four playgrounds for the kids. The campground is noisy during the day due to the highway, but is quiet at night with the windows closed. There is a bath house and a small, one-hole dump station. Parking at the museum is limited, but its a short walk from the campground. It is a great place for those who want the away from it all experience, yet want city amenities like restaurants and night life.

From The Campground

John James Audubon State Park is a nature lover's paradise, with 6.5 miles of hiking trails winding through a nature preserve, a 28-acre lake for fishing, and a nine-hole golf course. The park is also a birdwatcher's dream, with opportunities to spot bald eagles, great blue herons, woodpeckers, warblers, and other neotropical migrants. Four picnic shelters, four playgrounds, and a tennis court provide additional recreational opportunities for visitors.
