What others are saying about this campground
The lake is very clean and clear with lots of fish. The trails are easy but could be better maintained. The playground equipment has been taken down but there are still a few swings. There are electric and water hookups, picnic tables, two poles to hang garbage or lantern, and fire rings with grates for cooking. The campground is small but the lots are big and the area is very pretty. There is a small beach area with clear water for swimming, but there are quite a few steps to walk down to the lake. Pets are allowed on leash and there is an attendant on site. The bathrooms are clean but can get gross quickly when the campground is at full capacity. There is no commode in the handicap stall in the womens room. Hot showers are available with a regular handle for continual flow. There is a driveway down to the beach for handicap access, but the gate is locked. There is a nearby ice cream place that also sells basic prep fried food and breakfast. From The Campground
Carr Creek Lake was once home to some of the area's earliest pioneer settlements as early as the 1770s. Today, the area is a family-friendly escape with plenty of water activities, including boating and fishing. The marsh environment in the Carr Creek area is unusual for the Mountains of Eastern Kentucky, but this natural museum provides a wide assortment of watchable wildlife. Wood duck, great blue and green heron, ruffed grouse, bobwhite, wild turkey, red-winged blackbird, warblers, raccoon and striped skunk may be found making their homes in this area of KY.
