Tailwater Campground is a beautiful and well-maintained campground located just below Barren River Lake Dam. It is the perfect spot for those who love to hike, fish, and explore nature. The campground has a huge field for large groups, and there are plenty of spaces for smaller groups as well. There is a boat ramp with paths along the waterway, and a nature trail in the woods behind the field. The campground attendants are very friendly and helpful, and they can provide recommendations on the best places to hike. The Barren River is right next to the campground, making it a great spot for a refreshing dip. The campground has close to 50 sites, with each site costing $20 a night. There are no sewer hookups, but there is a dump station available. The campground also offers an Interagency 50% discount rate for two nights. The sites are level, soft gravel, and each site has on-site water and 50 amp service. There is weak cell service, but satellite reception is good. The campground is close to Mammoth Cave and Bowling Green for groceries. There is also a volunteer camp host who can provide information about the area.
