Lake Shelby is a small campground located near Shelbyville, Kentucky, with 10 RV sites and a few tent sites. It boasts a scenic lake with a dammed up creek, a playground, a dining pavilion, a boat launch, and a horseshoe pit. The RV sites have concrete pads, but are short and extend into the parking lot. The tent sites are shaded by nice trees and are located right next to the lake. The group tent sites have shade and open areas. The shower facilities are clean and the office, RV area, and restrooms are easy to find and well-marked. The campground also offers paddleboats and firewood for sale at reasonable prices. Unfortunately, the lake has an oily film across the top and the tent sites are down a dead end road with a lot of traffic. The price is affordable and the staff is helpful, but the bathrooms are rustic and there is no wifi. The dump station is a pull-in and the shower head in the womens bathroom sprays all over the place. Despite these drawbacks, the campground is a great place to stay for an overnight stay, and is conveniently located near restaurants, shopping, and distilleries.
