South Toledo Bend State Park is a very nice park with well-maintained roads and a peaceful atmosphere. Although the park has a chilly weather when we visited, there is still a beach for swimming. It should be noted that to reach the park, visitors must drive up a steep incline. However, once inside, the park is beautiful and affordable, offering discounts for military & Passport America. There are a lot of hiking and fishing opportunities in this park. Visitors can fish on the dock and there is a boat launch available. It should be noted that visitors must bring their own provisions since the store is located several miles away. The bathroom, laundry facilities, and campground are clean and highly recommended. The park also offers RV camping with 50 amp power and water. Although there is no sewer system, there is a dump station available. However, it should be noted that ATV park is located across the road and visitors are not allowed to ride from their campsite to the ATV park. The ranger said that website information was wrong and visitors must trailer their toys across the road to the trailhead. We encountered some difficulties, as we had planned to ride from our campsite. Our site was #16 with concrete pad, 50 amp power and water. It was level, but some back sites were not. There was plenty of space to accommodate our truck and our toys. Some spots have a view of the lake and docks to swim or fish from. Visitors should prepare for poor cell phone reception, as T-mobile service was minimal. Starlink worked, but there were many trees so visitors should look up for a clear view if using it.
