What others are saying about this campground
Lake Bruin State Park is a beautiful and peaceful campground located in the middle of Louisianas cotton country, about an hour north of Natchez, MS. The park is situated on a stunning oxbow lake, rimmed with moss-draped cypress and other hardwoods, providing the perfect backdrop for a tranquil camping experience. The park offers 25 additional sites, including pull-through sites, a water park for the kids, a new comfort station, swimming beach, playground, several fishing piers, boat rentals, and a splash pad. Sites 4 and 5 have a 25x10 foot deck extending from the RV site, providing a great spot for relaxing and taking in the views. The sites by the water have excellent places to dock your boat by your camper, and the piers are nice for fishing. The park is well maintained, with paved roads and sites, most of which are level and spacious. There is minimal cell service, but the park does offer free WiFi that is strong enough to get emails or access Facebook, but not to stream. The bath house and laundry are clean and tidy, though the toilet doors may not close or have locks. The park staff is friendly and helpful, providing information about the surrounding area and where the fish might be biting the best. The gates are locked at night and the roads and sites are kept clean. There is a small grocery store in St Joseph, about 10 miles away, which stocks all the basics. Unfortunately, the park does not accept any discounts from other states except Maryland. This is a great spot for a fisherman or boater who enjoys time on the water, and is the perfect place to explore the nearby cities of Natchez and Vicksburg.

From The Campground

Lake Bruin State Park is a 53-acre site established in 1928 as a fish hatchery. It offers over 3,000 acres of water surface on Lake Bruin, providing visitors with access to incomparable freshwater fishing, superb water sports, and fine outdoor living. The park features three large fishing piers, a year-round boat launch, and a boat shed for docking. Rental boats are available. Largemouth bass fishing is popular all year round, but the best months are April, May, June, September, and October. Crappie (white perch) are taken around the piers and mats in the early spring. Bluegill fishing is best in the shallower waters at both ends of the lake. Water sports and pleasure boating are also popular activities at Lake Bruin. A water playground offers a great way to cool off during warm spring and summer months, with a bathhouse located nearby. Lake Bruin's day use area offers picnic tables and barbeque grills situated near the lake and adjacent to two of the fishing piers, restrooms, and playground areas. A covered pavilion allows park visitors to enjoy their meals whatever the weather. Most facilities are wheelchair accessible.
