GenieSummary
This rustic campground is situated in a beautiful area surrounded by the Atlantic ocean and mountains of Acadia National Park. It is a great place to stay late in the season when other campgrounds are closed, and is fairly remote to Bar Harbor and the Acadia NP visitor center. The sites are not level, unmowed, and have no boundaries, gravel, or picnic tables. The roads are full of potholes and very narrow, and the bathhouse is clean. The free shuttle bus around the island is a great service, and Bass Harbor is a nice getaway. However, the campground is not big rig friendly and has a lack of maintenance, with overgrown grass, difficult walking, and no lights at night. It is best suited for folks in nice motorhomes looking for a cheap place to park and hookup.
