GenieSummary

This rustic campground is situated in a beautiful area surrounded by the Atlantic ocean and mountains of Acadia National Park. It is a great place to stay late in the season when other campgrounds are closed, and is fairly remote to Bar Harbor and the Acadia NP visitor center. The sites are not level, unmowed, and have no boundaries, gravel, or picnic tables. The roads are full of potholes and very narrow, and the bathhouse is clean. The free shuttle bus around the island is a great service, and Bass Harbor is a nice getaway. However, the campground is not big rig friendly and has a lack of maintenance, with overgrown grass, difficult walking, and no lights at night. It is best suited for folks in nice motorhomes looking for a cheap place to park and hookup.

Bass Harbor Campground is a rustic family campground located in the heart of Acadia National Park on the much desired 'Quietside' of the island. The campground offers 120 wooded and shady tent, RV, and pop-up sites as well as eight cabins and three yurts. Visitors can enjoy mountains, woodland trails, spruce and birch forests, and the pounding surf of the Atlantic all within a short walk or drive of the campground. The campground features hot showers, electric, water, sewer hookups, pull-thru sites, 20, 30, 50 amp sites, a dog run, cable TV, clean restrooms, a heated pool, a playground, free Wi-Fi, a dump station, a camp store, a recreational room, a gift shop, ice and firewood, and a laundromat. Bass Harbor Campground is located just a 1/2 mile from the famous Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse and 2 miles from the Acadia Seawall.
