GenieSummary

This campground is a great place for families to stay. The sites are grass and level, and depending on the part of the campground youre in, they can be close together. There is a playground, pool, and activities planned by the cold river for kids to enjoy. The WiFi is excellent, and the owners are very nice and helpful. The laundry/rec building is clean and well-equipped with washers and dryers, a TV, a large table, comfy chairs, and lots of books and puzzles. There is a small restaurant on site, but no camp store for groceries or RV supplies. Satellite might be difficult in some sites because of the trees, and the mosquitoes can be bad at times. The park is a little isolated from Bangor and shopping there or in Brewer, but it is open late (December) and early (March) for snowbirders. It is priced reasonably for the amenities and is usually quiet.

From The Campground

Nestled in the Penobscot river valley, Cold River Campground boasts acres of forest trails with quiet and inviting campsites. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring for an afternoon picnic or late-night s’mores. We also offer lodges, glamping sites and cabins for those who love to camp but still want a bed to put their head on at night. We are within an hour of Bar Harbor and Acadia. We are across the Penobscot river from beautiful Bangor Maine. We are the perfect stopping point if you are heading to or from Canada and the Maritimes. At Cold River Campground, we have events planned for most weekends such as music, crafts, and cooking classes. We have a family of beavers busy at work so remember to bring your hiking boots. We invite everyone to come to the bonfire in White Tail Hollow most weekends. We have laundry facilities and a lending library full of books and games. Our Rec Hall has air hockey, pool, and arcade games. We offer packaged firewood for those campfires that everyone loves. Did you forget something, stop by The Hitching Post for beverages, snacks, camping essentials and souvenirs. Propane fill-ups and a dumping station are available to all. We aim to create an experience you can cherish for years. Whether it is the smell of a cup of Cold River Coffee in the morning, that delicious honey you got at The Hitching Post Country Store, the beauty of nature through our 40 acres of forest or laughs around the campfire in White Tail Hollow with your new camping friends, we want this park to be one of your best memories.
