Mount Desert Campground in Mt. Desert, ME, is a stunning family-run camping ground with immaculate grounds and bathroom facilities on Somes Sound, next to the town of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Forest. This campground is a family favorite for many years, with plenty of activities and amenities such as camp roads that are great for biking, running, and walking. Theres fresh air to breathe, a long dock to catch and release crabs near, kayak or canoe rentals, and much more. The camp store has provisions for coffee and tea, including homemade bear claws. The location is excellent, both for visiting the park and for access to Bar Harbor. You can reserve a site with a water view and electric, which is incredibly reasonable. Restrooms and coin-operated showers are neat and clean, and theres plenty of hot water. The Gathering Place has 24/7 wifi, and you can enjoy hot coffee and fresh baked goods early in the morning. There is a shuttle to Acadia. There is a kayak launch and float dock, but note that you should carefully track the tide schedule.

Mount Desert Campground is a unique and scenic campground located in the heart of Mount Desert Island, just minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The campground offers waterfront and wooded sites for tenting, trailers, and RVs up to 20 feet. Facilities include metered hot showers, saltwater fishing and swimming, kayak, canoe, and SUP rentals, picnic tables and fire pits at each site, electric and water hookups, ice cream, coffee, and pastries, launching ramp, cellular service, and WiFi. The campground also has a Gathering Place where campers can enjoy various activities. Visitors can spend their days hiking the mountain trails or biking on the 50+ miles of carriage roads. Plenty of sightseeing, shopping, and dining experiences around the many local towns such as Southwest Harbor and Northeast Harbor await you! Sail on a schooner, go rock climbing in Acadia, or spend your afternoon at Sand Beach. You can even rent a kayak right here at the campground and explore beautiful Somes Sound.
