This campground is a great place for families to stay while exploring Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. It offers pull thru sites close to the office, a new section with 50 amp and full sewer hookup, a pirate ship for the kids, a gazebo on the waterfront, weekly bonfires, and a stocked store. The entrance driveway is long and bumpy, and the WiFi and cell reception are poor. There is no beach, but canoes and kayaks can be rented to enjoy the water and scenery. The swimming area is small and not suitable for little ones. People speed through the campground, and the owners have a strict no refunds after check-in policy. The utilities have been upgraded and a commercial kitchen has been installed in the pavilion. Unfortunately, the campground is focused on making money, and the high cost of sites and early arrival/late departure fees reflect this.

Balsam Cove Campground is a lakeside family campground located in Orland, ME. Situated on pristine Toddy Pond, the campground offers a peaceful lakeside setting while still being conveniently close to many attractions, including Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and historic Bucksport. The campground offers a variety of sites for tents and RVs, as well as rustic one-room log cabins and on-site camping trailer rentals. Amenities include a camp store, firewood and ice sales, laundry facilities, a lakeside playground, a swim area with grassy beach and picnic tables, restrooms with hot showers, and more. Activities include swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and boating.
