This campground is located in the beautiful Camden area of Maine, with a stunning harbor, plenty of paddling opportunities, and good hiking. The roads are gravel with potholes, and the campsites are grassy or dirt, depending on if you are under a tree or a previous campers patio mat killed the grass. Tall pine trees provide shade but can make it difficult to navigate the roads. Unfortunately, there is no strong Verizon signal and internet access is non-existent. However, you can take the ferry to Vinalhaven Island for the day and pick up prepared food at the Market Basket to enjoy along the Rockland Harbor waterfront. The campground is ok, with a pleasant staff, a pool and pickle ball court, and a community building with books, kitchen, and TV. There is a $5 pet fee, a $2 reservation fee, and you have to pay for wifi and wood. The sites are very tight with trees on both sides, making it difficult to get larger rigs in, and they are not level. The hosts, Heather and Stephen, are very welcoming and helpful. Although the campground is not perfect, it is conveniently located near the Camden Hills State Park and is a great place to stay if youre looking to explore the area.
