Acres of Wildlife Camping in Steep Falls, ME, is best suited for small RVs and tents. The road leading up to the campsite is three miles long, all dirt, and poorly maintained. Once you arrive, you may not want to leave because of the terrible road conditions. The dirt roads at the campground create a dust bowl, and the facilities have poor maintenance. Most of the larger full-site hookups were occupied by seasonal guests with excessive clutter on their sites. The dog park was overgrown, and weeds are everywhere on the grounds. The facilities are in disrepair, with over 50% of the laundry machines out of order, and they lost power twice during the stay. Additionally, the bugs are terrible, and its quite noisy. Considering the experience encountered, the expense to stay here is quite high. This campgrounds rating on various online forums appears to be very high for what it delivers, especially compared to the other wonderful campsites in the Maine area. All in all, I would not recommend going to Acres of Wildlife Camping.
