Dennis Point Marina & Campground

GenieSummary

This campground is located at the end of a long series of narrow roads, making it hard to reach. It consists of a seasonal portion with crushed stone roads in a forested area, and a transient portion which is an open field with water and electric hookups. The transient portion is an old baseball field with a trench run up the side to plant the water and electric lines. There are no access roads or marked off campsites, just a row of hookup boxes that you back into along a tree line on two sides of a big field. There is no on-site manager, which means there is no one to enforce quiet hours. The picnic tables are falling apart and the dump station has no running water for cleanup. The staff is unconcerned with addressing any problems. The office is about a half mile hike from the camp sites, and that is where the bathrooms, showers, and the WiFi are. The Marina looks quite nice and it is a 15 minute trip in the boat to Point Lookout. There are lots of permanent old run down campers with add ons by inexperienced carpenters. Despite the conditions, the sites are back-ins towards trees, with shade in the evenings, making it a desirable destination.
