Point Lookout State Park is a great destination for campers looking for a variety of activities and amenities. The park offers a huge fishing pier, camp store, canoe/kayak rental, lighthouse, historical sites, and a swimming beach. The Greens Point loop is bordered on two sides by Lake Conoy and offers big, shady, and wooded sites with fire rings and picnic tables. The park is also home to a Civil War prison camp and is located near St. Marys City and Solomons Island. Unfortunately, the park is known for its bugs, especially during peak season. There are also plenty of poison ivy and not many hiking opportunities. Despite this, the park is still a great destination for campers looking for a wide variety of activities and amenities.

Point Lookout State Park is located on a peninsula between the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River in St. Mary's County, Maryland. The park was once the location of a camp which imprisoned as many as 52,264 Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. A museum on site recounts this vivid history. The park offers a day-use area and beaches, trails, boating and fishing, and summer programs. The Point Lookout Lighthouse is currently closed for renovations.
