Its not too loud but you can definitely hear it. The campground is situated on a hill with three sections. The lower section is mainly for RVs and the upper section is mainly for tents. There are plenty of hiking and driving trails around the area. The campground is close to a local supermarket and not far from a hospital. There are fire pits with built in grill grates and wooden picnic tables at each site. The trails in October Mountain State Forest are very pretty with some grand vistas. The campground is also great for fishing and mushroom hunting. Unfortunately, it can get quite buggy in the summer with mosquitoes and gnats. The sites are not far enough apart to feel secluded, but the white noise from the nearby electrical plant can be helpful for sleeping.

At 16,500 acres, October Mountain is the largest state forest in Massachusetts. You'll find trails for any level of hiking experience, and you can also visit nearby Tanglewood, popular music venue and home to the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
