GenieSummary
The campground host was present, but we never saw him on duty. We did see a ranger pickup drive by a few times, and one was blowing leaves off sites, although it didnt seem very necessary. Fort Custer Campground is a great state park located just outside of Battle Creek in the small town of Augusta. It is a rustic, no frills park with narrow and bumpy roads, electric only campsites, and lots of outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking, and canoeing. The sites are spacious and private with lots of trees and vegetation, and the trails are immaculately kept. The campground host raises money for kid activities at the Harvest Festival by selling donuts on Saturday mornings with free coffee and hot chocolate. The bathroom building is clean and in good shape, but the area outside is very dark. There is no camp store but wood and ice are available at the campground office. Mosquitoes are terrible and the electric hookup can be difficult to access. The nightly rate is $19 plus an additional $5 for registering and $8 a day for the entrance fee. Families with children and the sound of child laughter can be heard during the day, and it is usually quiet until about 11am.
