Alpine Campground in Bessemer, MI is a nice and quiet camping area that has a river running along the lower portion of the campground. The bathroom facilities are generally clean, but quite dated, and require 25 cents to use the showers. This campground is adequate for an overnight stay and some of the sites have a lovely view of the trees and the river. However, some campsites are close to the highway, which can be noisy due to heavy truck traffic. Though the owner can be difficult to reach to make a reservation, she is friendly and helpful once contacted. The park is run down in some places and provides grass-only sites with 30 amps. While there are some challenges, this campground is an interesting place to stay and provides easy access to nearby attractions like hiking trails.
