But right after the entrance, its a sharp right turn and you are in the woods. The campground has many seasonal sites but the temporary sites are nicely spaced out. With a little bit of maneuvering, we were able to get our 40 fifth wheel in a site and had enough room to unhook and open up slides. Leelanau Pines Campground is located near Traverse City and Lake Michigan and offers a variety of sites to choose from. It is set among a forest of pine trees and has narrow, dirt roads and no paved sites. There are a lot of seasonal campers and the sites are small and dirt with the occasional spot of grass. The camp store is stocked with a variety of food products and camping supplies although the selection is somewhat limited. The bathrooms, showers, and laundry are all updated and clean. Guests are able to choose their own firewood and the entry drive is modern and sunny. The campground is quiet, friendly, and clean and there are lots of children in the area, but they are not a problem. Visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions nearby such as a winery and the Sleeping Bear Dunes. It is a great basecamp for visiting the towns on the Leelanau Peninsula and overall, guests have a great experience.
