This campground is the perfect spot for a rustic getaway. All sites are electric, but there is no water hook up. There are spigots and a dump station in the center of the campground, as well as a potable water fill. Firewood is available for purchase, and the bathhouses are cleaned multiple times a day. The showers are usually warm, and there are several playgrounds and a full beach across the road. There is a lake for swimming, fishing, and kayaking, and horse hitching posts near the fishing lakes. The small town of Clare is nearby with groceries, ice cream, restaurants, and gas. The Pier-Marquette Rail Trail is about 1.5 miles from the campground, great for biking and running. Most loops are in the trees, so need to be careful with big rigs. There are also sites in front of the park (outside the loops) that are grass but in full sun. The only issue is that the rangers drive around the loops every 10-15 minutes until midnight, and their lights from the pickup can be blinding. The access road is gravel and slow going.
