Fort Wilkins Historic State Park is a beautiful campground located between Lake Fanny Hooe and Lake Superior on the tip of the Keweenaw peninsula. The campsites are not as flat as some, but are separated from other sites by trees and vegetation. There are several hiking and mountain biking trails, and agate hunting on the beach. The Wi-Fi is spotty and only available around the bathroom area. The camp store is well-stocked with many essentials and souvenirs. The bathrooms are a little dated but always clean. The park staff, throughout the campground and Fort, are always friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable about the local attractions and places to visit. Cellular service is nonexistent, providing a completely disconnected experience and a chance to enjoy the night skies and northern lights. The park staff is very informative and helpful. The fort is informative and free of charge.
