East Tawas City Park is a popular campground located in beautiful East Tawas, Michigan. It is situated right on the beach, with a maximum length of 37 feet, and offers a large state-managed pier with fishing boats in the summer. The campground is packed and loud in the summer months, but in the off-season (October-December) there are barely any people. The campground is close to town, with shops, restaurants, and a Wal-Mart within walking/biking distance. However, the park is right on a main highway, so road noise may bother some. It is difficult to get into in the summer, especially on weekends, and there are no spots on the beach as those people are not giving up their prime locations. There are several sites that are rented yearly and have steps and sheds on their spot, and on October 15th the rates turn to seasonal and people can rent the spots to store their RV for the winter. The city turns the water off around the 3rd week in October and there is a very loud, slow-moving train that blows its horn around 22 times when it goes by.
