Tawas Point State Park in East Tawas, MI is a total gem with two swimming beaches and a dog beach. There are a few trails for hiking and biking, and one of the coolest things about the park is that the rangers and staff perform 80% of the parks operations on bicycles. The park is well-maintained and has fantastic beaches and nice trails. On the downside, the park can get quite crowded on the weekends, with sites that can barely fit larger RVs and a lack of barriers between sites. The roads can be narrow and challenging to navigate, and parking can be difficult. However, the park staff are consummate professionals, always helpful, and very friendly. Overall, Tawas Point State Park is a great spot for camping, especially during the weekdays.
