GenieSummary

This campground is located on the shores of Big Bay de Noc, 16 miles south of US 2. It offers a variety of campsites, ranging from level, gravel pull-thrus with electric hookups to unlevel dirt sites. There is a clean dump station and water fill available at the entrance to the campsites. The campground is next to the Fayette historical site, which is a short walk away, and there are a couple of nice walking trails with beautiful views of the lake. The campground is less crowded than other campgrounds and there are less family and party campers. There is very little cell service (Verizon) in the campground, but there is strong wifi in the ghost town where visitors can comfortably work. There is a boat launch close to the campground, but it is a mile away and not accessible by the state. There is a beach a bit further but it is a nice walk through the cedar forest. There is also a visitor center with a small gift shop and ice cream. The campground is super clean and the midge flies were surprisingly low during the end of May and beginning of June. The camp wifi needs an upgrade, but visitors can access wifi in the ghost town. There are no showers, dump station, or restrooms, so visitors should arrive prepared. Big rigs should unhook before entering the campground area as the roads are not kept up as well as they could be and the sites are fairly small. This is a great place to visit for history buffs and those looking for a peaceful getaway.
