The campground itself is very large and well kept. There are plenty of trees for shade, as well as fire pits and picnic tables. The sites are large and some have electric hookups. The bathrooms were closed for the season, but there was a large port-a-potty. It was quiet and peaceful, with a great view of Portage Lake. There was plenty of wildlife to observe, including deer, swans, geese, and a bald eagle. During peak season, you can rent boats, shelters, and there is a concession stand. The campground is located in the Waterloo Recreation Area, which includes a 20,000 acre recreation area with hiking and biking trails. It is a great place for a peaceful getaway, with plenty of amenities to enjoy during peak season.
