This campground is located in a great spot, just 200 yards from a private beach on Lake Margerthe and close to Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, and Traverse City. It is a National Guard campground and features sand and pine trees, as well as some 50 amp and full hookup sites in the back row. Unfortunately, the campground is in need of maintenance and the firepits are not clean at all. Trash is present in some of the firepits and the grass and weeds are overgrown. The bath house is dirty and bug infested on the outside, but the inside is clean. The campground is $20 a night and the hosts are helpful in escorting you to your site. The phone number on the site goes to a person at the Officers Club who will take your reservation, but it is recommended to call the on-site park manager to confirm your reservation. The campground is currently undergoing renovations and the new, larger entrance road will be operational in late August.
