From The Campground
Lake Michigan Recreation Area is a beautiful campground located between the Lake Michigan Recreation Area and Lake Michigan. It offers a loop trail created by the Boy Scouts that forms a loop between the campground and the beach. The campground also has a trailhead for the Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness Area trails. The ultimate wildlife viewing experience is watching animals in their habitat. The campground is home to unique species such as the Piping Plover and Prairie Warbler. The Ludington Dune System, including Lake Michigan Recreation Area, Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness Area and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, is a special feature of the campground. The campground offers picnicking and swimming activities. All sites are first come, first served and no reservation is needed. The campground has a parking capacity of 60 vehicles.
