From The Campground

Au Sable River Primitive Camping offers camping sites at various impoundments along the mainstream of the Au Sable River. The impoundments include Alcona Pond, Loud Pond, Five Channels, Cooke Pond, Sawmill Point, Foote Pond, and Au Sable Semi Primitive Nonmotorized Area. The campground offers drive-in, boat-in, and walk-in sites. Reservation is required from May 15 to September 30 with a one-time reservation fee of $10.00. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance of visit. Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance of visit. All sites are first come, first served outside of the reservation season. The campground offers fishing, boating, and non-motorized boating activities. The fish species available for fishing include Bass, Pike, Brown Trout, Walleye, Perch, Sunfish, Steelhead, and Salmon. The campground is accessible to fishing boats, bass boats, dinghies, electric boats, flat boats, jon boats, canoes, and kayaks. The campground is suitable for easy difficulty level camping.
