What others are saying about this campground
Hurricane River Campground is a rustic campground located along the Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore. This campground has a Upper and a Lower sections of campsites, with 11 sites in the lower section. There is no running water and vaulted toilets, but there are drinking water, fire pits, picnic tables, and lantern poles at each site. Handicap sites become available each day to the rest of the public after 6 p.m. The campground is accessible from Au Sable Point Trail Rd, or by hiking along the North Country Trail. There are a variety of activities to do in the area, including hiking along the shores of Lake Superior to the Au Sable Light House to see old ship wreck remains, and checking out the small waterfalls along the Hurricane River. There are also hiking trails around, including the North Country Trail, and you can take a short drive to Grand Marais and the Au Sable Lighthouse. There is limited cell service unless you are close to Grand Marais or Munising. Quiet hours are 8pm-8am and the campground is pet-free. The campground is perfect for a peaceful getaway, and is best to arrive early in the summer months to get a site.
