Sparrow Rapids is a quiet and secluded no-frills campground located in Trout Creek, MI. It is a great spot for primitive camping with six sites available and ample space to park an SUV, put up a 4 person tent, and set up chairs around the fire. The site provides a fire pit with a built-in rack for stove-top/grill use as well as a post and hook to hang items from, and a picnic table. There are plenty of trees to set up a hammock and a short hike to the nearby river. The pit toilets are clean, and Verizon works well. Sparrow Rapids can be accessed via a 5-mile gravel road, and its relatively far from most amenities. The campground provides a nice escape from the crowds with only a handful of sites, and privacy on most of them.

From The Campground

Lake Ste Kathryn Campground is located in the Kenton Ranger District and offers 24 campsites for tent and trailer camping. The campground provides access to Deer Marsh Interpretive Trail, which is a 3-mile looped trail that takes you through pine forest and northern hardwoods along the shore of Deer Marsh. The trail has interpretive signs, a puncheon bridge that crosses a beaver dam, and two viewing platforms. The campground also provides access to Lake Ste Kathryn, a 151-acre lake that is ideal for boating and fishing. The campground has a swimming beach located next to a small picnic area. There are two sets of vault toilets located near the fee station and one set near campground site #13. The campground has 22 accessible picnic tables located in campsites and two hand pumps for drinking water located near campground sites #16 & #23.
