What others are saying about this campground
Bear Head Lake State Park is a beautiful and peaceful destination located in northern Minnesota, just south of the Boundary Waters. This full service state park offers a variety of camping opportunities, from camper cabins to guesthouses to tent campsites with lake access to RV sites. The lake is great for fishing, paddling, and swimming, and there is an extensive network of trails for both hiking and cross country skiing. The Trail Center serves as a winter warming house, indoor meeting place, and classroom for park naturalist events. There are flush toilets, hot showers, dump station, group sites, and electric available, as well as a swimming beach, boat rentals, and trails. The campground sites are geared more towards RVs and campers, but tent camping and vehicle reclining is also possible. The site includes a bear locker, fire pit, picnic table, hammock spot, and sunset views. The wildlife is abundant, and the red squirrels and chipmunks are brave enough to come within arms length of visitors. The lake is also secluded from boats, making it a great spot for fishing and kayaking. Cell service can be spotty, and the nearest towns are about 25-30 minutes away. There is a daily entry fee or purchase of an annual pass for motorhome and towed vehicle. Quiet hours are observed, and the park is open year-round.
