The South Kawishiwi River campground is the perfect place for an outdoor adventure. Located off Highway 1 between Ely and Isabella, the campground provides secluded and spacious sites for tent camping, complete with picnic tables, fire rings, and grills. Visitors can enjoy the waterfront with a beach and picnic area, as well as a boat launch for canoes and fishing boats. Hikers and boaters can explore the surrounding area, while those looking for supplies or attractions can easily access the nearby town of Ely. The campground also offers Banner and Oak products, including mugs and shirts, for purchase. Despite being overrun with mice, the campground is kept clean and well-maintained by the camp host and her dog Spencer. Firewood is not allowed into the park, but can be purchased at the campground. Visitors are sure to enjoy the peacefulness of the tall pines and the sound of the wind.

From The Campground
South Kawishiwi River Campground is a beautiful campground located in Superior National Forest. The campground offers 31 campsites, 14 of which have electricity. The historic log pavilion, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933, is available for rent and can accommodate up to 35 people. The campground offers a variety of activities including fishing, hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, boating, and bird watching. The river to the north of the campground is part of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, and permits are required. The campground also has a picnic area, swimming beach, shallow boat landing, and a 1-mile hiking trail.
