What others are saying about this campground
Itasca State Park is a large and beautiful park located in Northern Minnesota, offering a full outdoor wilderness experience. With miles of paved and unpaved trails, visitors can explore the area on foot, bike, canoe, kayak, paddle boat, or rent a bike and explore the 17 mile paved loop. The campgrounds are large and offer minimal to moderate privacy and each site has its own picnic table and fire ring. The park also has a rental place right on Lake Itasca, where visitors can rent all types of bikes, boats, and pontoons for fishing and recreational use. The visitor center has a small historical/wildlife display and you can borrow binoculars to better see the wildlife that abounds. Be prepared for lots of mosquitos, woodticks, deer ticks, and occasionally biting flies, and watch for bald eagles, deer, fox, coyote and bears. The campground bathrooms and showers are closed for the winter, but visitors can car camp and RV with hookups if they want, or tent camp if they know how to do so comfortably in winter and dont mind using outhouses in the campground. The park also offers a great interpretive museum at the Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center. With all the activities to do, visitors should plan to stay at least two days to take in all the park has to offer.
