What others are saying
Cascade River State Park is a beautiful spot for backpacking. The campground has a great hiking trail that leads to sites with stunning views. BP#2 is a perfect site, very quiet and secluded. Its a bit of a hike up to the site, but well worth the effort. The site is equipped with a covered wooden structure, a good sized bear box, picnic table, and fire ring. There is also a pit toilet nearby. The hike up to the site is a bit steep, but not too strenuous. The trail can be muddy in spots, especially after a rain. The backpacking sites are preferable to the drive-in sites, which can be cramped. As for the campground, there can be some issues with booking online. When I stopped in, I was told there was a cancellation and I paid for a site. However, when I returned, someone else was setting up camp on the site I paid for. The staff member said I was not in the system, even though I could show them my receipt. They offered me an overflow site, which was far from the bathroom and even further from the shower space. It wasnt ideal, but it was doable. Despite this issue, the campground itself was clean and well maintained. The shower/bath stations were very clean and there were plenty of hiking trails nearby.
