What others are saying
Minneopa State Park in Mankato, MN is a charming and cozy campground nestled in a woodsy environment with a lot of songbirds. The park is home to bison, adding a unique touch to the camping experience. Visitors can explore nearby hiking trails that lead to a beautiful waterfall. The campground is relatively small, with fewer than 50 sites, and most of them are dry camping (only 6 sites have electricity). The restroom facilities are well-maintained, and the park provides fire pits and picnic tables at each site. The sites are pretty well spaced and some are quite large, with good visual privacy when the trees are covered in leaves. Although there is only one pit toilet for the campground, the park features a number of spickets at which campers can access water. The terrain is pretty rough, however, and campers should be prepared to level their units. Visitors can take a hike around the bison enclosure to explore the picturesque scenery and the stunning overlooks of the Minneopa and Minnesota Rivers. The campground is separate from the park headquarters, where campfire wood is available, and the Minneopa Falls area. However, both sites are a short drive away from one another. Touring Mankato is a quick ten-minute drive from the park and offers breweries and restaurants.
