This campground is a great destination for a peaceful getaway. It is well-kept and managed with great customer service in the office. The grounds are lush and the lake is surrounded by cattails, making it a great spot for kayaking and star gazing. There are plenty of hiking trails, and you can spot a variety of birds, berries, and bugs. Cart-in site #1 has a great view of the lake, but it is right on the hiking trail, so it may get busy if there are a lot of hikers. The RV sites are expensive for tent camping, and there is a $7 per vehicle per night charge. The office is rarely open, and the only staff you may see is the park ranger leaving notes on your car. The bathrooms and showers are located in the non-electric A loop, and they are old but kept clean. Be prepared for mosquitos and ticks while out hiking, and if you camp during duck season, you may hear gun shots. This campground is great for an overnighter, but not an ideal destination for a week.

Rice Lake State Park is a beautiful park in Minnesota that offers a variety of recreational activities such as camping, hiking, fishing, and boating. The park is located on the west side of Yellow Medicine River and offers three campgrounds: the horse campground, the backpack/watercraft campground, and the Yellow Medicine River Campground. Please note that the highway that used to run through the park has been permanently closed, so visitors must use alternative routes to access the park.
