What others are saying
Bear Paw Campground and Pine Ridge Campground are two of the most popular campgrounds in the state, located in the beautiful Itasca State Park. Both campgrounds offer plenty of recreational opportunities for visitors, including biking/hiking/cross country skiing trails, boat rentals, and the chance to wade across the Mississippi River at its source. The campgrounds are well-maintained and offer 50 amp hook-ups, potable water, and a single dump station. The Pine Ridge campground is located away from the water in a wooded area and features newly installed wireless access at some sites. The Bear Paw campground is more open, but has less campsites. Both campgrounds are very busy and full during prime season, and the single dump station can be a problem during busier times. The campgrounds also offer showers, flush toilets, hot water, and electricity. There is an entrance fee of $5 per day for a motorhome, and a free pass is provided for a towed vehicle. Visitors can also enjoy taking hikes on the trails, listening to loons, watching osprey and eagles, and climbing the fire lookout tower for an awesome view of the park.
