What others are saying about this campground
Great River Bluffs State Park is a secluded campground nestled in the woods above the Mississippi River, offering breathtaking views of the driftless region. With 31 pull-in/back-in sites, 4 cart-in sites, and 5 sites for bicyclists, the campground provides plenty of space for tent and/or hammock camping. The sites are shaded, spacious, and have a picnic table and fire pit. There are two viewing areas, Kings and Queens Bluff, with spectacular views of the Mississippi River valley. The 7 miles of hiking trails are mostly level and easy to navigate, with rolling hills. Fall is the best time to visit, when the mosquitoes are gone and the leaves have turned. There is no hookup or electrical sites, and the showers are push-button with no heat control. Drinking water and trash dumpsters are near the bathroom, and there is a bathhouse with a few showers. Be aware that the only water fill is about 75 feet from the road. There is also a lot of noise from the nearby traffic and trains, as well as light aircraft flying into Lacrosse airport. Bring bug spray and binoculars to take advantage of the great birdwatching opportunities.
