Prairie Island Campground is a family-friendly campground located on a flood-prone island in the middle of the Mississippi River. The campground has very nice views of the Mississippi River and the surrounding bluffs, and offers a variety of amenities including pull-thru and back-in sites, most of which are equipped with 50-amp or 30/20/15-amp service, restrooms/showers, river fishing, boat ramp, sandy swimming beach, playground, picnic shelter, disc golf course, pet walk area, camp store, outdoor movies for kids, wood delivery, and a community garden. Sites are closely spaced with little personal privacy, and the campground is not ideal for those looking for extreme adventure and wilderness. The campground is well-maintained, clean, and offers fast WiFi, but the water delivery system is strange and the campground is prone to flooding. The campground is also located near a railroad line which can be noisy at times.

The campground is open from April 15th to October 31st and offers a variety of amenities and activities for guests to enjoy.
